KFC and ex-girlfriends

so an interesting issue was raised on my walk home from work this afternoon... the similaity that exists between eating KFC and reintroducing a relationship with an ex.

from the moment you step inside it smells good, looks like good value, even makes you want it. and so you place your order, even ask for something a little extra and when asked if you'd like to upsize... well sometimes you just don't care.

as you take that first bite, you remember how good it can be, that you grab at a chip (of course - the seasoning's the best). and as you continue, you begin to realise you didn't need all of what you ordered, you don't even really want the chicken (i'll add at this point, regarding chicken: sometimes you get a good bit, tender, juicy, succulent. sometimes you get a wing), in fact, by the time you're half way through, you wonder what you were thinking in the first place?

so as you 'finish up', you place your waste in the recepticle, and walk away... realising you never should have gone back, and vowing never to return.

well, at least for six months.

so another year went by, and another big day out hit Auckland, and again I didn't go. and you know why I didn't go? and why i'll not go next year? nor the year after...?

...well i'll tell you!

because the general opinion (although the masses defend it) is that it sucks (simply). "but wait" I hear you all say. "you didn't even go!" and "it was really good!" and blah blah blah...

all i've heard from attendees to this point - bar discussing this blog entry with some - is complaints. "oh man, I can't believe how many fat goths with mohawks wearing 'mudvayne' t-shirts got in my way!" and "I couldn't see a thing!" and "it took us 30mins to get anywhere!"

and now people choose to defend their decisions, and try to convince me how good it was and why I should go and "it'll be fun".

whatever.

perhaps all this teaches us is "you gotta accentuate the positive" if you wanna convince me?
